Description

Abstract

This dataset provides 1:24,000-scale data depicting boundaries of land parcels making up the lands managed by agencies other than the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in Georgia. The data were collected and located by these agencies, University of Georgia NARSAL and Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Boundaries were digitized from survey plats and other information.

Purpose

This dataset was developed for use in mapping at scales equal to or smaller than 1:24,000 and for county-level planning and analysis. Statewide assessments of natural resource conservation can make use of this dataset in conjunction with information on other lands managed for conservation.

Procedures_Used

Revisions

Individual area polygons were modified as new parcels were added to existing areas or as better boundary information became available. Boundaries for new areas were added. The attribute scheme for this dataset was modified to be consistent with the scheme for other datasets in the State Land Conservation GIS.

Information contained in previous versions of the State Conservation Land GIS, produced by UGA/NARSAL and Georgia DNR, were reviewed for accuracy and completeness.

Positional_Accuracy

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:

Horizontal positional accuracy is based upon the use of USGS source quadrangles which are compiled to meet National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS). NMAS horizontal accuracy requires that at least 90 percent of points tested are within 0.02 inches of the true position. The digital data are estimated to contain a horizontal positional error of less than or equal to .003 in the two component directions relative to the source quadrangle. Cartographic offsets may be present on the graphic source, due to scale and legibility constraints.
